International Youth Day 2012 “Building a Better World”
We, the Network of African Youths for Development (NAYD), which represents thousands of young people active in sustainable development across Africa, wish to celebrate International Youth Day 2012 by respectfully reminding our Presidents and Prime Ministers, from North to South and East to West, from Libya to South Africa and Somalia to Sierra Leone of their duties under the African Youth Charter to support the rights, freedoms and duties enshrined therein of non discrimination, freedom of movement, freedom of expression, freedom of thought, and in particular, under article 11, of the guarantees, priorities and support declared for youths participation in decision-making at local, national, regional, and continental levels of governance.
We wish to Build a Better World by making Africa a safer and more developed place for all, including women and children of all ages through the joint efforts of youths. The way forward is paved with determination, hard work, and togetherness for all African youths exploring meaningful opportunities for future generations.
We believe in young Africans effecting positive change on the continent, that by holding each others hands Africa will become a truly great place to live and work in.
We believe in making African youth potential activists for the promotion of sustainable development, social justice, gender equality, and education for African children and peer groups across Africa.
We believe the African Youth Charter provides the foundation for a sustainable future for Africa. Please support it and help us build a better world together.
